Embracing my Weirdness
We had a great chat in Scott Perry ‘s Circle meet up the other week about owning our weirdness, the things that make us unique and sparkly, that set us apart from the masses. Personally, my weird is what gets me out of bed, eager to embrace the day. It’s what I talk about with passion and exuberance. My weird is a wonderfully eccentric and inseparable part of who I am.
I realized, though, during this conversation, that I had a
hard time naming my weird. I certainly can feel it: it’s the squishy feeling I get when someone looks at me askance, a look of suspicion on their face. It’s also the thrill of excitement that radiates from head to toe when I am deep into a creative endeavour.
But what exactly is my weird? What sets me apart?
✨️ I believe in everyday magic: a huge tree emerges from one small seed, mycelium form an underground internet so trees can talk to each other, a caterpillar miraculously metamorphosizes into a butterfly, a friend knows exactly how I am feeling even though we haven’t exchanged a single word.
🌟 I believe in status that is built on kindness. That the kindest people are at the top of the social ladder. All the money, fame, good looks and talent in the world mean nothing to me if you are unkind. (Not to be confused with nice - we don’t always have to be nice, but we would do best to always be kind).
💫 I think moderation is da 💣. Seriously. Extremes are off putting and terribly unsustainable. I like my yin and my yang to exist in perfect complimentary. This goes for pretty much everything: food, drink, possessions, technology…. I love spending time out in nature and I enjoy sitting on the couch watching a good comedy on Netflix. I eat a balanced diet that includes the occasional slice of cake. I mostly drink water but I won't say no to a glass of wine.
⭐️ I prefer to live a natural life (lived close to nature, utilizing nature’s gifts) rather than living a tech driven, modern-industrial life (I’ve often wondered if I was born in the wrong century!) Although I do use tech, I dont use it all the time and I never let it use me. My go-to’s for health and wellness are always nature first, and conventional only if absolutely necessary.
🌟I talk to plants, animals and myself - and yes, they all talk back in their own way.
💫 I prefer to learn how to do things for myself rather than rely on tech to do them for me. If modern technology were to disappear tomorrow I would be able to look after myself. And I prefer slow, handmade methods to anything mass produced thing I could buy in a store.
⭐️ I trust most decisions to my intuition. I prime this by reading tarot, meditating with essential oils and taking long walks in nature. I feel this method has served me very well in life.
This list is clearly not exhaustive. I’m sure there are many more things that make me weird. And I proudly own every single one of them.
Thank you for giving me some of your precious time today 🌟
Cheers,
Katherine
P.S. I’d love to know: what is your weird?

I love EVERYTHING about this. Thank you for the wise words and hat tip, Katherine!
My weird: I‘m specific about my coffee. If I want to order one, I make sure they have the exact right brand of oatmilk (my friends secretly roll their eyes about this 😉)
